Hungry Hungry Werewolves

Setup for the next session featuring fluff balls that can kill (and not in the fun way)

So I’ve got the next session of D&D to prep for and I’m planning on having my party be involved in a werewolf attack. The setup is pretty easy since I’ve put the players in the bar of red riding hood and her hunter uncle.

Their back story is pretty classic to the original story with the little girl traveling though the forest to her grandmothers but add in a werewolf that’s looking for some tasty tasty little girl. As a bonus to correct how dumb she is supposed to be its that the werewolf shape changed to being human. The other correction is that for the story I’m setting up is that her uncle the huntsman was also headed to grandma’s but from a different route. I don’t think the backstory will factor that much into the actual gameplay other than an exposition dump after the attack.

The biggest change is that I think red hood would have been bitten and changed so that she is the werewolf now. Though grandma couldn’t be saved the huntsman killed the werewolf and they burned the cottage down with the wolf inside as they left. Thus starting the feud between the family and a local group of werewolves.

At this point red and huntsman are the only family members left alive and they’ve tried to disappear to start over but the werewolves eventually find them and attack the bar/inn they run where the players are staying. Thus setting up the adventure start.

Right now the players are 3rd level and I know throwing a bunch of werewolves at them might be too much but their are 5 players and it wouldn’t be unreasonable for the uncle to have a stockpile of silvered weapons that he can loan out. The question for me comes down to motivation. I can pay the players to go run the werewolves out but they also already have a bunch of money. The other question I have is weather or not wolf red would go with them to take on her enemies or if she’d stay behind to help her injured uncle (who will take a bad hit from the fight so they don’t have too much help). Thoughts? I’m certain this is something that will bug me for a while so the next few posts will probably have a lot to do with all of this.
